How do you think you can use Word, PPT, and, or Blogs to help you meet NETS for teachers?
I think I can use the 3 standards below to help facilitate the use of these technologies in the classroom:
Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
Model digital age work and learning
Engage in professional growth and leadership
Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity- means to promote the use of technology throughout my classroom. It means to allow the students to allow their creative energy to flow and use those ideas to incorporate English and technology. I can use blogs for each unit and put useful information for your students need. Also the blogs allow me to receive feed back from the student and it's a way for me to check for understanding. I feel like this meets the standard because blogs allow students to show their creativity and use technology at the same time. The students can even create their blogs which would be great.
Model digital age and learning-means to show the student how these technological tools are important how they can be used beyond the classroom, into the community, and the world. Again, with the blogs this a tool that the students can use to show parents and community partners the types of things we are learning in the classroom. the best thing is that the blog can be accessed from any where on the globe. I feel this meets thi standard because blogs are the Internet, the digital highway and have become very important in many people's lives.
Engage in professional growth and leadership- means to take a leadership role in the school or the community exhibiting the effectiveness of these tools. A teacher could create a service learning project where students can show senior citizens how to use Word to write a letter or written response to something. This is important because students need to understand that they have share their skills and abilities so that we can all take advantage of these wonderful tools. I think this fits this standard because it's about taking a leadership role and exhibiting things for others.
